Gee Yong Sor

Gee Yong Sor has a wealth of experience in Nursing, spanning across 38 years, and has been a valuable asset to Garrison Ash. Gee Yong has over 13 years management experience, which includes her work as our Director of Nursing (DON) at Fairlea Aged Care (2000-2008) and more recently as the Acting DON at another of our client facilities: Crown Gardens Aged Care (2011-present). Between these DON positions, Gee Yong has worked as a Client Relationship Consultant and Corporate Educator for Garrison Ash, which she continues to do atop of her DON responsibilities.

Gee Yong is extensively qualified. She initially completed Certificates in General Nursing (1976) and Midwife Nursing (1977). However, since then Gee Yong has had ongoing professional development and education throughout her career, including the completion of an Associate Diploma in Clinical Nursing Studies (Gerontology) (1989), Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training (2005), Certificate in Assessment Fundamentals Part 1(Aged Care Quality Assessor’s course) (2009), Accredited Certificate IV in Palliative Care education (2010), and numerous other qualifications. Furthermore Gee Yong’s linguistic skills are a significant asset to her work, speaking fluently in English, Chinese (Mandarin, Cantonese, Hokkien and Hakka dialects), and  Bahasa.

Gee Yong’s management skills in aged care have been thoroughly demonstrated through her achievements during her employment with Garrison Ash. Gee Yong has had excellent records in maintaining occupancy for our facilities, with an average annual occupancy maintained at 99% during her time at our client Fairlea. She has successfully led Fairlea through three rounds of accreditation (2000, 2003 and 2006); she also assisted in the accreditation of Crown Gardens in 2009; furthermore, she recently in 2011 led a new team to achieve accreditation for a new low care section of Crown Gardens, whilst simultaneously raising occupancy and improving the wage/ACFI ratio.

Eike Law
Director of Nursing

Eike Law has extensive experience as a Registered Nurse, with six years experience in acute care, working in the ICU, followed by twenty years working as a nurse in aged care.

Eike gained her Bachelor of Nursing at the University of Sydney in 1999. She worked for Garrison Ash at our client Fairlea Aged Care as the Deputy Director of Nursing (DDON) for seven years before she was promoted to the position of Director of Nursing in 2008. Whilst Eike was the DDON at Fairlea, she supervised clinical care and coached the staff as an Educator. She has continued her professional development by taking courses in aged care (for example, gaining the Cert IV in Assessment and Workplace Training) to ensure her service to aged care is up-to-date and effective. She assisted the previous DON to set up the low-care facility at Fairlea Aged Care in recruitment, staff training, and financial management.

Eike is highly involved in her role as Continuous Quality Improvement officer in occupational health and safety, food safety, infection control, and fire safety.

When Eike took up the DON position in early 2008, her exceptional leadership, management and organisational skills were demonstrated as her responsibilities extended to managing the extensive and complicated renovations in the high-care facility. This involved using her adaptive problem solving skills to develop contingency plans pertaining to occupational health and safety, managing both the nursing and renovation staff to maintain smooth running of operations, and all the while ensuring high quality care to residents. During this challenging time, Eike's leadership motivated the staff to be supportive, flexible, and committed to resident care. Her positive thinking, flexibility and calmness influenced the staff to use this same philosophy in their day-to-day interaction with our residents. Residents' relatives comment that Eike's pervasive positive influence can be seen in both the staff's sensitive care of the residents as well as their interactions with the relatives.

Stephanie’s tertiary education includes a Bachelor of Arts (Design) (2003) from the University of Western Sydney, and a Bachelor of Nursing (2006) from the University of Technology Sydney.

Stephanie brings a wealth of experience across all facets of the aged care business, having worked from the ground up. Prior to and during her university studies, Stephanie began her work in the aged care industry in facilities in Ryde and Merrylands. She worked in roles ranging from a kitchen hand to an administrative office and a maintenance officer. Upon graduating with a nursing qualification, Stephanie continued to pursue her passion for aged care as a registered nurse. Stephanie’s focus, determination and strategic thinking were recognised throughout her work, seeing her progress into managerial roles as a DDON and then a DON. This ground-up experience has helped develop her strength in people management across all positions within our aged care facilities. Stephanie develops high performance teams and excels in handling industrial relationships.

During Stephanie’s work as DON at an aged care facility in Merrylands, she oversaw significant renovations to the facility. Stephanie ensured the safe and successful operation of the occupied facility throughout the 18 months of renovations. As DON at our Crown Garden’s facility, Stephanie has successfully increased occupancy from 74% to 100% within an 8 month period. She has also implemented improved systems across multiple facets of our aged care facility, ensuring policies and procedures are in place for accreditation. Stephanie’s ability to set goals and achieve them within quick deadlines has been an asset to our company. She is a strategic and creative thinker, who brings energy and solutions to reality.
